All things tech has been Dean’s passion for as long as he can remember. Some of his favourite early memories involve many evenings spent hunched over the TV playing with his Sega Master System. As time went on he became even more interested in the world of technology and you’d always find him poking around inside his computer tinkering with parts he’d scrimped, saved and begged for. Inspired by his game developer Uncle, he always knew a life of coding was for him.
At University is where Dean pursued his passion, rather than finding his studies a chore he excelled and attained a first class honours degree. While there he enjoyed a placement year within Sony’s Evolution Studios meeting many amazing people from the industry and further solidifying his knowledge and passion in programming.
Over the past 10 years, Dean has worked in game and software development, cutting his teeth working with Java enterprise server programming, learning from experienced industry professionals, before moving on to Playdemic, where he eventually got to lead programming on experimental social and mobile games.
After his time at Playdemic, Dean co-founded a new development studio Nonatomic, where he spent the next five years honing his craft and gaining a stronger understanding of the business side of development, solidifying his pragmatic approach and mastering the art of producing quality software on-time and in-budget.
Dean has now begun his next adventure, Manchester Code Company aimed at giving local businesses the benefit of his knowledge and experience. He can’t wait to see what happens next!
